Private Time- Tiarnie Batty

Acrylic Paint on Canvas

A3

'Private Time' presents a woman alone in a public bathroom, slumped on the toilet with a cigarette and bottle of alcohol. The confined cubicle creates a sense of isolation, despite being located within a public space. Her posture suggests exhaustion, detachment and a moment of withdrawal from everyday life. The monotone colour palette reinforces the bleak and emotionally drained atmosphere of the scene. The work explores the idea of a midlife crisis through an unconventional and uncomfortable moment, focusing on the contrast between public surroundings and private struggle.
