After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Visual) from the College of Fine Arts, UNSW, Sydney, Jude returned to regional New South Wales in 1983 to work as an artist and art educator. She exhibited at the Grafton Regional Gallery and local galleries, carried out various public art projects, competed in regional prizes and taught visual art at the Grafton College of TAFE. Her works are held in the Stanthorpe, Tweed, Grafton and Inverell regional gallery collections in addition to many private collections. When Jude took up the Directorship of the Grafton Regional Gallery in 2003 she took a break from her arts practice, working instead to develop the potential of the regional gallery and to advocate for the recognition of the value of the arts and creative industries in regional areas. In 2018 Jude returned to her artistic practice this time painting rather than drawing and printing, carrying out commissions, entering art prizes, designing and painting theatre backdrops and creating series of work for seven exhibitions.
