Clay and glaze
Angela Edwards Ceramics
My work reflects the colours, textures and shapes of nature. Adding layers of glazes, different textures etc, all add to the alchemy of the finished piece. I like to use Mark making, curves, echoing rockpools, ponds and rivers, rather than rigid lines. Creating a unique ceramic piece everytime, much like nature itself. My clay forms are usually quite free, organic and natural. Working intuitively I will let the piece evolve in form, colours and layers. My work is created with a mixture of techniques including the use of large coils and slabs of hand rolled clay. I use a mixture of clay types and add layers of engobe, glazes, textures and pigments. Producing a natural look focusing on the colours in the landscape, earth and sea. Creating ceramics is a meditative practice for me, shutting myself away from the farm for a few hours does wonders for relaxation, creativity and mental health.
