Adding a new hobby in the form of weld art.

This piece is inspired by the transition of winter to spring as represented by the cold dull, metal being repurposed into colour and life. The yellow blossoms broadly encapsulate the beauty and delicate shape of the local wattle species (Box-leaf wattle- Acacia buxifolia) whilst paying tribute to their hardy and resilient nature through the use of metal. The contrast of the easily recognisable bright blue male Superb fairywren moulting its dull winter brown feathers epitomises the change in season, reflecting energy, warmth, colour and life within every aspect of the work. Made by welding scrap reo-bar, sheet metal and other finds from past projects. The materials were shaped, twisted, bent, cursed at, sanded, sealed and coloured using oil based gloss spray paints. Hours of time, blood, sweat and tears were poured into this artwork. A labour of love for the craft and the season it represents.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0950/1560/0427/files/2F84CF5B-72FB-4EFC-98DE-C732CC329834.jpg?v=1792114875
